68% reduction in heating costs at a pasta factory thanks to heat pumps

In the food industry, keeping energy costs under control is crucial. To optimise its heating process while reducing its carbon footprint, a pasta factory adopted an innovative thermal solution combining heat pumps and heat recovery.

MTA designed and deployed an energy-efficient system, achieving a significant reduction in energy spending without compromising productivity.

Context

Faced with rising energy costs and environmental requirements, a pasta manufacturer was looking to replace its traditional heating system with a more sustainable alternative. The aim was to reduce its reliance on gas boilers while maintaining an optimal temperature for drying the pasta.

Solution

MTA implemented a hybrid solution combining high-temperature heat pumps with a heat-recovery system. This installation captures the thermal energy from the existing cooling processes and feeds it back into the heating circuit.

The system was integrated without disrupting production and tuned to maximise energy efficiency. With this approach, the factory was able to drastically reduce its gas consumption while maintaining precise thermal control.

Result

The solution delivered a 68% reduction in heating costs, while improving the sustainability of the production process. The factory also reduced its CO₂ emissions, aligning its energy performance with its environmental commitments.
